The Naranjo River , located just south of Manuel Antonio was the perfect setting for the Costa Rica Nacional Championships of Rafting. For the first time the local, Asocioacion de Aguas Rapidas y Aventuras de Quepos, in a combined effort with some of the local whitewater rafting companies such as H2O Adventures & PRO Rafting CR worked together to host the Rafting Championship. This championship took place the last weekend of May with a total of 10 Teams from all different rivers located around the country of Costa Rica. We had the pleasure to have representation from areas including La Fortuna, Sarapiqui, Turrialba, Dominical and also our won Quepos and Manuel Antonio.
The teams raced over a total of three days in events including sprints, down river, head to head and slalom. The paddlers were put through their paces on this technical and ever-changing Naranjo river. Thrills and spills were in force for both competitors and spectators but ultimately, the skills, endurance and incredible teamwork of PRO Rafting, led their team to victory.
It does not stop here though, with the World Rafting Championships due to take place in Brazil in October, our team must continue their training to what we are hoping will be more success in the future.
Good luck guys and Congratulations!
